Meet J. Vernard Flowers

J. Vernard Flowers is an honest, fair, and compassionate Savannah native who has devoted endless hours of servanthood ensuring that the families of Chatham County are treated with dignity and respect. As a lifelong resident of Chatham County and a business owner for over 30 years, J. Vernard Flowers is driven to serve our community. You can expect him to be there when it matters most.
Born October 18, 1962, James Vernard Flowers also known as Noddie, is a native of Savannah, Georgia. He is an educated businessman who is a c/o 1981 graduate of Hershel V. Jenkins High School where he was an active member of the marching band serving as a percussionist; developed and direct the H. V. Jenkins High School Choir. His passion for music led him to establish the Mass Production Gospel Choir in 1980. It was there that he recorded two CDs and numerous songs alongside many gospel artists. The choir retired after 25 years. He then formed the Mass Production Ensemble. J. Vernard Flowers and Mass Production Ensemble has been singing each Monday night since 2006 on the Savannah Riverboat Cruises. This allows him to minister and touch the lives of people from around the world.
Flowers was also a renowned radio personality for many years on Savannah Gospel 1230 WSOK. Presently, he is an active member of First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as the Minister of Music. J. Vernard Flowers is an educated community leader and advocate. He graduated from Savannah Technical College with a degree in Master Cosmetology soon opening and owning the Brothers 2 hair studio with his twin brother Slate. Soon his passion for the hair industry transitioned to funeral services and Flowers went on to graduate from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Services in 1993 with an Associates of Applied Science in Funeral Services.
To date J. Vernard has been in the funeral services business for over 35 years. Since 2004 he and his wife are the proud owners of Sylvania Funeral Home, Inc. with two locations in Savannah & Sylvania, Georgia. They are Christ-Centered, with a family-focus; they believe in shaping the minds of children through their My Little Darlings Childcare and Learning Center.
J. Vernard Flowers has been married to his wife Lisa Cooper Flowers for 25 years. He has two sons, Vernard Scottie Flowers (Harrasha) and Chad J. Flowers. They have two daughters, Te’Erica L. Johnson and Chasity J. Flowers. He is the son of Mary B. Flowers and Oliver/Alemeta Cooper. He has two brothers, James Earnest Flowers (Janie) and James S. Flowers, Sr. (Valeria), sisters, Rhoda Flowers Greene (Rod) and Lynn Flowers, and nine grandchildren. He loves his family and he has committed his life to service.
